Renting Backcountry Touring Gear in Kyrgyzstan
Traveling internationally with bulky ski touring and splitboarding equipment can be challenging. If you prefer to travel light, require backup gear, or have group members needing rental gear, we maintain a fleet of backcountry ski and avalanche safety equipment.
Available Rental Equipment & Rates
- Avalanche Safety Rescue Set (€15 – €20 / day):
- Modern 3-antenna digital transceivers (Mammut Barryvox, Ortovox, BCA Tracker).
- Telescopic metal shovels with hardened aluminum blades.
- 240cm – 300cm quick-locking avalanche probes.
- Touring Skis & Splitboards (€30 – €40 / day):
- Powder-width freeride touring skis mounted with reliable pin/tech bindings.
- Splitboards mounted with Voile / Spark R&D touring binding systems.
- Custom-fitted climbing skins with high-grip mohair/nylon mix.
- Ski Crampons (Harscheisen):
- Essential for firm morning ascents and spring crusts.
- Adjustable Telescopic Poles:
- 2-section and 3-section sturdy aluminum poles with powder baskets.
Gear Rental & Pickup Locations
Rental gear can be reserved in advance and picked up / returned at two convenient mountain hubs:
- Karakol Hub: Extreme Shop (Central Karakol) — Ideal for gear fitting, transceiver checks, and picking up rental gear before heading to Aksuu Gorge, Arashan, or Jyrgalan.
- Jyrgalan Village Hub: Ala-Kol Jyrgalan Guesthouse — Direct on-site village location for guests staying at or heading into our Jyrgalan Yurt Lodges (Basecamp, Heights, Tyup).
How to Reserve Gear
Equipment is maintained, inspected, and waxed between trips. Because rental inventory is limited during peak winter months (January–March), please reserve your required sizes and boot lengths in advance when submitting your trip inquiry or messaging us on WhatsApp.
